The European School Copenhagen follows the curriculum of the European Schools System.
The syllabi in the language sections are – with the exception of the mother tongue – identical and the same standards of attainment are required of all. All programmes of study in the different sections lead to the same examination: the European Baccalaureate.
To ensure that the European Baccalaureate is recognised, syllabi are designed to meet at least the minimum requirements of all 27 EU member countries. Since these vary, the contents have been established by negotiation between national experts – more particularly by Committees of Inspectors – on the basis of careful scrutiny and comparison of national curricula.
Once formulated, the syllabi are officially promulgated by the Board of Governors of the European Schools, which must approve any amendments.
