The Secondary education cycle consists of grades S1-S7 when the pupils are between 11-19 years old. The European School Copenhagen follows the curriculum set by the European Schools and the secondary cycle is completed with the European Baccalaureate certificate. You can read more about Secondary here.
The Secondary department opened in August 2018 with three classes: Secondary 1 and 2 in the Danish language section and Secondary 1 in the English language section . These classes correspond to the Danish 6th and 7th grade and are currently full. However, it is possible to apply for ‘rolling admission’ in case spaces become available during the school year.
In August 2019, the school will be opening a Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 class in a new French language section. The admissions process for these classes has now closed.
The plan was also to open Secondary 5 (corresponding to 1.g) in August 2019 but the start of upper secondary has been postponed and is now expected to open in the school year 2020/2021. We will provide more information about the upper secondary school (Gymnasium) as soon as possible.
